SSHL awarded the King’s Banner

On June 6, we will have the honour of receiving the King’s Banner at the official celebration of the Swedish National Day at Skansen in Stockholm.

The celebration starts with a parade, departing from central Stockholm and continuing all the way to Skansen, Djurgården.

Students and staff from SSHL will participate both in the parade and on stage at Solliden, Skansen, where we will receive the banner from His Majesty the King himself.

The National Day celebration at Skansen can be followed on site or through the television broadcast on SVT1 and SVT Play.

We hope that as many as possible of the school’s friends will dress up in their school uniform or SSHL sweater and join the audience at Skansen!

Swedish associations and organizations can be rewarded with a banner “for important efforts, emphasizing the major contributions to Sweden made by the civil society, associations and organisations both in terms of the breadth of their activities and the contribution to our country’s democracy”.

We are so happy and grateful for this award, which is an added bonus to our 100-year anniversary celebrations.

The Swedish National Day Foundation has been presenting a number of banners every year since 1916. A limited number of those, about 10, are presented by His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf himself at the traditional celebration of National Day at Skansen in Stockholm.

The National Day Foundation and the Swedish Parliamentary administration collaborate to communicate the importance about the flag as a symbol of Sweden and the values our country is associated with such as democracy, peace and freedom.
