Dekaden 2023 – a sunny day with many dear reunions
This Saturday, we celebrated Dekaden 2023 – an alumni reunion that attracted 260 former students to visit Sigtuna and SSHL.
A big thank you to all of you who visited the school this weekend, to meet with your old classmates, teachers and House parents!

The day began with check-in and mingling in the dining hall. The guests had to look up their name tag based on their graduation year. In the program booklet, you could see which school friends were present during the day. This year, students who graduated in 1963 and every fifth year up until 2018 were invited.
Caroline Lindahl, Chairwoman of the Sigtuna Alumni Association, welcomed everyone, and our new SSHL School Director/CEO Sofia Kinberg, introduced herself.
The program continued with a tour of the boarding houses. All former boarding students had the opportunity to greet current students and revisit their old “houses”, where a fika buffet was set up and there were many happy reunions between boarding staff and alumni.
Our guests then gathered for a traditional korum on the Midgården stairs. Here there were songs, and Fredrik Svinhufvud, who graduated from SHL in 1973, held a speech.
The school’s shop Utis was open during the day and many alumni took the opportunity to purchase an item or two as a memory from the day. Those feeling hungry could stop by Café Humlan to get a hearty sandwich or a yummy pastry, and sit and talk for a while in this cosy and beautiful school café.
The day ended with a three-course dinner, prepared by the school’s fantastic kitchen. The alumni gathered by order of class at long tables in the school’s sports hall, serving as a temporary assembly hall since the fire in the Aula. There was both singing, speeches, and dancing later on during the evening. Students from SSHL Music Association made a fantastic performance on stage.
Dekaden is a long honoured tradition and a great way to maintain contact and network with former schoolmates. We are so happy that, together with the Alumni Association, we could once again organise this party for our alumni.
