Almost every day of the week, for the entire school year, you can find enjoyable activities at SSHL that inspire and energize you. We offer plenty of choices, including sports, creative activities and outdoor life to etiquette.

Just Do It – Your Own Way

Do you enjoy exercise, but not necessarily competition? Then why not try aerobics, boxercise, or dance? Or go to the school gym, with treadmills, weights and various machines. Or is yoga more your style? It often appears in the programme. So too is horse riding, golf, tennis, and pool. We think it’s safe to say that we have something for everybody!

No Shortage of Opportunities


But if you are the competitive type, we urge you to try out for one of our school teams! We have teams that play football, volleyball, basketball, rugby, swimming, rowing and many other sports. If you are ambitious and demonstrate the right stuff, you may have the honour of representing the school, both in Sweden and abroad. NECIS offers lots of contact with international schools in other countries. This organisation arranges sporting events every year between schools in Northern Europe. If you are selected for a NECIS event, you’ll get to meet young people from all over the world, create happy memories and even make lifelong friends.

It’s All Here for You

At SSHL you’ll meet professional and dedicated recreation and sports teachers. They instruct, inspire and encourage you to develop the proper skills, enjoy improve your performance. Our large indoor hall has room for basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, badminton and many other sports. In the sports hall you’ll also find space for dancing, fencing and various forms of physical exercise. Next door to the hall is the gym. And just outside, students can play street basketball and beach volleyball. Take a few steps more in the direction of Lake Mälaren and you’ll see our tennis court, football field and sports ground for athletics. The boathouses for our canoes and sleek racing boats for rowing.

Let Your Creativity Run Wild!


Music, drama, art, film and design – if you enjoy being creative, we have fantastic opportunities for you at SSHL. Throughout the years, we have competent and committed teachers in the fine arts. Together with the students, they have formed choirs, orchestras and theatre groups that in many cases have reached professional levels. Every year, we stage at least one play or musical at the school. You’ll learn how to play a part on stage and produce an entire show with the crew. After a lot of hard work, countless rehearsals and opening-night nerves, you can finally enjoy the applause and cheering of the audience.

An Entire Building of Talent

Near the school’s entrance, you’ll see our centre for art, music and drama. Behind the tall glass facade, the centre is bursting with life from early morning to late evening. The students who have their own bands that rehearse in the basement. On the ground floor is a large room for music and singing lessons. Here you also have access to a professional sound studio. Inside the entrance, the students exhibit paintings, sculptures and photographs. Located nearby is Studio 1, with its stage for drama and music. Follow the spiral staircase up to the next floor and find rooms for dance and drama exercises. Student video productions are edited in the studio next door. We are proud of our professional-grade equipment.

The Sky is the Limit

The school’s art department has everything you’ll need to develop your artistic talents and skills. Here you can try new ways to express your creativity and surprise yourself! Work with collage, discover screen-printing or make beautiful things with pottery. Want to try creating sculptures in metal or experimenting in the photo lab? Paint with pastel watercolours or vivid oils? Or maybe you want to create pictures digitally. The art department is staffed with knowledgeable teachers who work with you to develop your artistic interests and let you find your own style. With their experience, the teachers offer valuable knowledge and good advice about anything related to art and design.

In 2011, SSHL unveiled a new gym that has since become very popular. The gym offers more organised activities and sports such as tennis, badminton, theatre, dance, football and rowing. You can take music lessons, and earn a hunter’s certificate or your driver’s licence. In wintertime, long-distance skating is popular.

About Sigtuna

In the period between the Viking Age and the Middle Ages, Sigtuna was the very first town in the kingdom of Sweden to gradually grow and prosper. Today, Sigtuna has a population of 7,500 and the town has many cosy shops and cafés lining the main pedestrian street, beautiful natural surroundings a where you can experience the great outdoors.

Sigtuna is situated 17 km from Arlanda airport, making it easy for students living abroad or elsewhere in Sweden to get to and from the school. Transport to and from Stockholm is convenient for students who live centrally or for those who need to take the train from the central station to visit home.
