IB Career-related Programme – the first year successfully completed!

A pioneer group of students have now completed their first of two years at the IB Career-related Programme – Business and Hospitality Management.

The IB Career-related Programme consists of the following three parts:

Firstly, three subjects from the IB Diploma Programme.

Secondly, the course Career Related Studies, focusing on Business and Hospitality Management which covers a variety of themes ranging from Food safety and production to Principles of microeconomics. This course is provided and examined by VIE Academy in cooperation with the Swiss Education Group (SEG).

It also incorporates work practice which has taken place at hotels and restaurants in the Sigtuna area. The students have usually spent one day a week putting theory into practice under the supervision of a contact person in each of these establishments.

Thirdly, the so-called core that consists of Personal and professional skills, Language development, Service learning and a conclusive Reflective project.

– This programme has been a new, challenging and rewarding experience for all of us. Looking back we can see that our students have done 20 days of work practice, ten study visits and seven online master classes with our Swiss partners, says Christina Peters who is a teacher and former coordinator for the new programme.

– We are so happy for the tremendously positive feedback from the work practice places and are indeed grateful for their commitment, support and encouragement, Christina continues.

The grand finale of the year for our pioneer group was a trip to Montreux in June where we visited César Ritz Colleges and Caux Palace run by the Swiss Hotel Management School, both members of our host Swiss Education Group. We would like to thank the SSHL Alumni Association for their generous contribution, the SEG and private donors who made this trip possible.
